TEi restore World War II tank
10.06.10
A rusting World War II Sherman tank that took part in decisive battles for the liberation of Europe arrives at TEi where it will be restored by apprentice engineers.
It has taken pride of place outside the National Liberation Museum in Grosebeek, Holland, but in recent years has started to look its age. Everyone involved in the revamp-from the ferry firm to the crane company needed to lift it onto a low loader - has given their time for free.
TEi became involved after the Dutch museum asked for help with the restoration from the modern day Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry - now a TA unit - whose members include TEi engineer Bob Gregory.
Corporate and Social Responsibility
30.03.10
As part of the companies CSR, over the past year we have built a strong link in the community by forming a partnership with Castleford High School, allowing us to promote engineering within the school. This includes work experience for the students interested in engineering, job advice and mentoring support for all students.
We have been involved in the students’ project to design and fabricate an ECO car chassis with the help of design engineer James Froggett and apprentices Matty Oslear and Danny Husk. After the chassis is fitted with an engine and a fibreglass shell it will be raced later in the year at Silverstone race track in order to determine how far the car will travel on just one gallon of fuel.
We have also purchased equipment and tools to enhance the schools engineering workshop.
